Slight fall in number who opt for university
STUDYING at university was less popular for school leavers last year as there was a slight fall in the number of those opting for higher education.

In total 181 – 27% – of 18-year-olds attended 79 different institutions in 2014. That compares to 28% in 2013.
Head of careers Sarah Stonebridge said while the grants system was still in place locally, the expense of university was an issue for young people.
'While the figure is down, it is fairly similar to previous years,' she said.
'I think because it is expensive a lot more young people are rightly questioning how valuable it is for them before making a decision to go to university or not.'
