Alderney deaths police investigation 'will take time'

POLICE investigations sparked by concerns over four deaths in Alderney could take a 'considerable amount of time' to conclude, Guernsey's police chief has said.

Patrick Rice said the investigation would be carried out as expeditiously as possible, but it was complex.

Shock and bewilderment hit Alderney over the Easter weekend, when concerns over the deaths led to a police raid on the Eagle Medical Practice and saw Dr Rory Lyons suspended from practice.

Mr Rice said a significant amount of medical records were seized during searches of the medical practice and a private residential address - these only relate to patients who have died.

A team of 10 police travelled to Alderney which included family liaison officers.
