Geoff Cowley has moved from Lincolnshire to take up the reins at the school for the summer term.

Since 2011 he has worked as a 'troubleshooter' at schools in the UK and Guernsey, identifying weaknesses and remedying them.

A head teacher for 15 years, for nine months in 2011 and 2012 he was recruited by the Education Department to get the troubled La Mare de Carteret High School back on track.

He was contacted by the department to see if he would take over for a term at St Anne's, days after the sudden resignation of former head teacher Suzanne Young.

Mr Cowley ruled out continuing as the permanent head teacher in September, because Lincolnshire is his home, but said he was confident he could make a difference during his short stint.

'The fact I'm here means things could be better than they are and I will make a difference,' he said.
