Basil got his name because he is the same colour as Basil Brush.

His father, Darius, at 4ft 4in. long, has his name in The Guinness Book of World Records.

Basil, a Continental Giant, is one of 30 rabbits that belong to trainee accountant, Laura Smith, 36.

Miss Smith, pictured, said she came across Basil while searching the Internet and her partner, Martyn Roberts, bought him for her as a present.

'I've got the world's largest breed and I'd like the smallest too, but they come from Colombia so that would be a bit more difficult,' she said.

Basil was reared by a breeder in Worcester, Annette Edwards, 62. He was born in August and Continental Giants can grow for up to two years.
