Secondary heads unite to oppose 'divisive' plans
THE Federation of Secondary Schools is at risk because of the uncertainty over the future of education in the island, head teachers have warned.
In a rare move, heads of all four secondary schools have hit out at how a discussion of the £60m. La Mare de Carteret rebuild has morphed into a wider debate about how many schools were needed, and the 'far-reaching ramifications' this could have.
'The impact of this level of uncertainty is wide-reaching and causing considerable anxiety among our staff, significant difficulties in recruiting and retaining high quality teachers and uncertainty for all our children,' the head teachers said in a letter.
'All this is putting at risk the successful partnership of the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools, who are working together to further develop the high quality provision and equality of access for all children, at the same time ensuring value for money.'
