La Mare compromise approved
A TREASURY and Education compromise regarding the La Mare de Carteret re-build has been approved.

Following late night negotiations, an amendment was passed by deputies, which will now mean Education can go out to tender for the rebuild of the school for both 600 and 900 pupils.
It also means it remains on track for the building work to begin in May next year and an opening date of September 2018.
However, doubt remains for its stakeholders and that of other secondary institutions as the cost of the deal means before work goes ahead, Education will have to produce a report for debate by March on the future of education, which includes proposals on the future of the 11 Plus and an option for closing a school.
