Treasury and Resources has gone out to tender for the work, which will address some remaining areas of minor damage and reconstruct a section some 140m long where temporary repairs have previously been carried out.
The department said that in storms at the beginning of 2014, damage was caused to some of the rock armour on the south-east facing edge of the reclamation site.
Most of the face was undamaged but, in some areas, armour had been displaced.
