Those taking part could run, jog or walk the 5k, which started and finished at Saumarez Park.

The first woman crossed the line in 21 minutes.

It is hoped the Guernsey event could raise £55,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Area events manager Sarah-Jane Winding said 1,100 people had signed up to take part and that it was a shame about the weather.

It was thought the rain may have put some off, with approximately 700 adults, children and babies turning up.

'It's still an amazing amount that came,' she said.

'Half of people forget to return their sponsorship money so we would remind people to hand it in,' she said.
