Admiral Park parking concerns

'SOMETHING needs to be done' about parking in and around Admiral Park, according to shoppers and people living nearby.

Though Admiral Park is terre l'amende – 'penalty land' – allocated solely to shoppers at B&Q and Waitrose, vehicles are frequently left in the area overnight and for days on end, a spokesman for the car park management company, APRM Management, has said.

'The Waitrose and B&Q car park has always been private,' said the spokesman.

'It is the abuse of the car park that has become the problem. Since the retractable bollards at the entrance stopped working, a few residents started to park their cars overnight.

'At first a blind eye was turned, in the belief it was just half a dozen cars. As time went on, word got around that the car park was a free for all.

'Over the last few years the problem has become intolerable, with over 70-80 residents, staff of local businesses and tradesmen all parking their cars overnight and in the main car park during the day.'
