General Medical Council and HSSD lift all restrictions on Alderney GP
THE General Medical Council and Health and Social Services Department have lifted all restrictions on Alderney GP Dr Rory Lyons' licence to practice.
The GMC suspended Dr Lyons in April shortly after an investigation into the deaths of four of his patients was handed to the police by the Health and Social Services Department over concerns about public safety.
Guernsey Police last month categorically cleared Dr Lyons of any criminal wrongdoing, after engaging a leading UK palliative care specialist to provide an careful analysis of the patients' final days of treatment.
The GMC's Interim Orders Panel met on last Friday, 31st July, to consider whether any there were any grounds to suspend Dr Lyons from practising, or place any restrictions on his licence to practise, and they reached the conclusion that there were none.
Dr Lyons was advised of their decision by letter earlier this week.
And HSSD confirmed this morning that Dr Lyons was now free to practise in Alderney.
