No such thing as bad weather at West Show

'YOU never get bad weather – you only get bad clothing', was the motto of the West Show yesterday as the rain on the first day of the event failed to deter visitors.

Light showers and overcast conditions were experienced during both the morning and afternoon, however islanders and visitors were not put off.

West Show secretary

Sherri Le Lacheur said preparations for the event had gone better than ever before with 75 adults helping to put up the tents at the weekend. She was pleased to see the event proving as popular as always.

'There is no community event like it,' she said. 'Everybody knows somebody and they might not have seen someone all year but they will see them at the show.'

She said today's weather forecast was looking better than yesterday's.
