Kids get 'passports' to the island's dolmens
ISLANDERS were given the opportunity to explore some of Guernsey's most ancient and intriguing monuments over the weekend through the new Fete des Dolmens, organised by Guernsey Museums.
Large groups of people turned up to talk to archaeologists and volunteers from Guernsey Museums at Le Dehus on Saturday and for the walking tour of Le Creux es Fai'es and Le Trepied yesterday (SUNDAY).
Ali Le Tocq was at Le Dehus on Saturday with her six-year-old son, Charlie, – whose dream is to be an archaeologist when he grows up.
'I have a dolmen at my school (Vale Primary) but we aren't allowed in, so I was really excited to come and see this one,' he said Charlie.
An avid fan of the Horrible Histories book series, Charlie said history was one of his favourite subjects.
'I would like to be an archaeologist one day. It's cool to be here and learn about everything.'
The festival continues today at La Varde. Meet at 2pm.
