With a new five-mile family-friendly route option, children are also being encouraged to join in and will be given a colouring book and glow sticks to get in the spirit.

The Healthspan-sponsored event, organised by the Guernsey Bicycle Group, will this year raise money for the Cardiac Action Group and the Guernsey branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The event taking place next Saturday aims to provide routes for all ages, abilities and fitness levels and there will be five to choose from – five, 10, 20, 40, or 60 mile rides.

Rollo de Sausmarez, chairman of the Guernsey Bicycle Group, said they had already received a great response.
