Golf course neighbours back plans

INSTALLING a new access point to St Pierre Park Hotel's golf facilities would be 'far safer' than the current entrance, people living nearby have said, as they welcomed plans for £2.5m. major redevelopment of the site.

A planning application has been submitted for the project, which could also see the introduction of an adventure golf course and a state-of-the-art driving range.

The existing range is 10 years old and plans are for it to be re-developed into a two-tiered range, with eight-metre high floodlights operating from dusk until 9.30pm.

Access to the existing range is from a narrow, bumpy track at the junction of the Rohais and Rohais de Haut.

However, the plan is to install a new access halfway up the hill, past the junction with Ruette Cressard.

Molly Atkins, 81, lives at the bottom of Rohais du Haut, where the current entrance is.

'The golf course has been like that for years and years so I think it would be good if they could make it a bit better.

'I really don't mind what they do, as long as it doesn't interfere with my property, then I really don't mind,' the Rohais resident of 57 years said.

'We do always find a lot of golf balls down here, though.'
