Pupils' mass apple fight angers school neighbours
STUDENTS hurled apples at each other in a mass disturbance outside St Sampson's High yesterday, leaving neighbours fuming at the 'unacceptable' mess left by an estimated 20 youths.
Police were called after the lunch-time disturbance, by the traffic lights at Les Effards Road, where the group of schoolchildren began shouting, swearing and launching the small apples, with some landing in gardens and hitting property.
The school are now ordering the guilty parties to clean up the smashed fruit and other litter, which lay around the roadway, path, hedges and by homes in the aftermath.
Neighbour Phil Ozanne said there was a complete lack of discipline and respect.
'I heard a lot of shouting, and swearing for that matter,' he said. 'I got some apples in my garden. Lots went across the road and in my neighbours' garden.
'It is just ridiculous. You can imagine what it was like when it all kicked off. They were throwing apples anywhere.
'It is unacceptable behaviour.
