As part of tyres awareness week staff from Target and Guernsey Police set up outside the old Jones and Bradburn building in Braye Road for people to have their tyres checked free of charge.
Senior tyre technician Ady Bougourd said it was vitally important that tyres were checked regularly.
Since the economic downtown, people had been putting off spending the money on new tyres, he said.
