Mel Queripel and Lauren Falla have just established Buttercup Pre-School, which can cater for up to 20 children from two to five years of age.

Having both worked well together at Daisy Chain Pre-School, the pair decided to join forces to open a pre-school at the brand-new Castel-based facility.

'We thought it was a really good opportunity to open a pre-school here and we just couldn't turn that opportunity down,' Mrs Queripel said.

The Cobo Community Centre committee is still fundraising for the project. It is just shy of the overall total needed for the project by around £100,000 and still needs money to service some loans.

Donations, payable to Cobo Community Centre, may be made at any HSBC branch using the sort code 40-22-25 and account number 44126610. Cheques and donations can also be sent to financial director Pauline Mahy at Les Palmiers, Grandes Rocques, Castel, GY5 7FR.
