'Dramatic improvement' in primary school results
OUTDOOR learning and improved records of pupils' achievements have helped raise the English and maths results of Guernsey's primary school pupils.
The latest Key Stage Two results show that nearly 90% are achieving level four or above in the two key subjects.
And on a three-year rolling average between 2013-2015, the average for both subjects is 86%, compared with 83% in 2012-2014 and 77% for English and 78% for maths in 2011-2013.
Education minister Robert Sillars welcomed the results.
'It's a dramatic improvement,' he said.
Education director Alan Brown said there had been a lot of hard work by the schools, and that staff had been given support to improve their results.
'It's about the quality of teaching and we really have many good teachers across the service,' he said.
'It's also not about adding resources, but about making best use of what we've got.'
The steady improvement in results has been partially attributed to more engaging teaching methods, including more outdoor classrooms.
