Pollet plan threat to pub, shop and nightclub

MAJOR plans to remove the White Hart pub, Barbados nightclub and Food Hall in the Lower Pollet and create in their place one large retail space have been submitted to planners.

The application, for the ground and basement levels of Weighbridge House, would see a total of three retail outlets, the pub and the nightclub replaced by a single unit and has provoked speculation that a major supermarket chain is potentially moving in.

Some existing tenants, however, have indicated they have a few years left on their tenancy agreement, with no imminent plans to move out early – including the Liberation Group, which runs the White Hart.

The new single store would stretch from the White Hart all the way to the now-closed Miss Nob store.

The plans have been submitted by applicants the Spread Trustee Co Ltd, with its agent Lovell Ozanne and Partners. Spread Trustee Co Ltd felt it would be inappropriate to comment at this time.
