Skipper Tony Le Flock said his vessel had just returned from Herm and crew members Roly Domaille and Rachid Kandili were tying up at the Inter-Island Quay at 1.05pm when a call came from the Coastguard asking for assistance.

It gave the stricken boat's position as one mile east of Selle Rocque.

The only person aboard the 21ft Orkney Pitite Moo is understood to have been fishing when the steering failed.

It took Trident V about 15 minutes to get there, by which time the casualty, which Mr Le Flock said had been dragging its anchor, was about 50m from the Selle Rocque.
