Currently, pupils either have to play sport outside, in the school hall or travel to other sites.
But a planning application has been submitted to demolish the former Sula art gallery to the south-east of the school and build a state-of-the-art hall.
Principal Andrew Warren said it was an exciting time.
'I am thrilled that Blanchelande has begun the process of having a purpose-built, all-weather sports facility on site,' he said.
'As the island's only co-educational independent school, we are proud of our reputation and this development will ensure we have first-class sporting facilities.'
The building set to be demolished has stood empty for 18 months.
