Cruise ship anchorage charges up to £1,500
CRUISE ship companies are set to face higher charges under changes being planned by Guernsey Harbours.
The anchorage charge for visiting cruise ships will go up this year, and a new passenger landing fee will be introduced in 2017.
The anchorage cap for visiting ships will be raised from just over £1,000. It means liners visiting Guernsey this summer will be charged at 5.9p per gross tonne with a new, higher cap of £1,500.
Last year, anchorage charges resulted in revenue of around £90,000 to Guernsey Harbours.
The new maximum charge would have applied to more than 40 visiting vessels, and the changes are expected to increase this income by around 25% this year.
The new cruise passenger landing charge of £1 per passenger will be introduced at the beginning of the 2017 season.
This should generate a six-figure sum, with some 123,000 people coming ashore last year.
