As long-running court battles over the hotel continue, Judge Russell Finch ruled judgment with costs against Atlantique Holdings, whose registered office is at the hotel.

The action by the former owners, John Trimbee and Christine Trimbee, in the Ordinary Division of the Royal Court, was one of two judgments in a single day against companies associated with hotel owner Gundega Freitas.

She was not in attendance and was understood to have left the island, according to claims in court.

Towards the end of last year, Mrs Freitas announced the closure of the hotel in a letter to clients and staff, saying she had put the premises up for sale after exploring potential solutions with friends and professional advisors with limited success.

It also follows the death of her husband last year.
