The Policy Council believes 'special consideration' should be given to the potential transfer of the airport and its operation to the States of Alderney because it was a piece of 'critical infrastructure' for both economic and social wellbeing.

Guernsey has suffered a deficit in operating Alderney Airport in the region of £700,000 to £900,000 per year in recent times and it is one of the key services provided by Guernsey that is set to be reviewed.

'The one large cost item that shows the most promise for inclusion within the future research is the deficit in operating Alderney Airport,' said the Policy Council report.
