Fisherman Rick Ferbrache filmed a large pod of dolphins swimming alongside the vessel he was on and shared it on his Facebook page.

The video has also been shared on the Guernsey Harbours Facebook page, with 34,000 views.

On Monday Mr Ferbrache was on a friend's boat on their way back to Guernsey after fishing for the day.

It was about 1.30pm as they came around Fermain, he said, and the dolphins were probably travelling alongside the boat for about three minutes before he began filming when he realised he had a video facility on his phone.

He said that he has seen dolphins out at sea before, but not so much at this time of year.

While he could only guess at how many dolphins there were, he said it might have been hundreds.

He added that they could see some of the dolphins breaching the surface but they could also see the shapes of others under the water.
