College of Further Education students are currently re-pointing areas around the Horseshoe Pool and Joe Mooney, of the Legacy Team, said community spirit was still in the air.

'We have new steel railings on the way down there, a new roof on the changing rooms – it will all make a dramatic change to the area.'

Brickwork lecturer Adam Groom said the college was pleased to be involved.

'We have got some working re-pointing the steps, some in the picnic area and some working on the male changing rooms,' he said.

'There will be some doing some stonemason's work another day and working on the seating area so it is usable again. It is good for the lads and their community spirit.'
