Deputies vote in favour of three-schools model

ONE of the island's secondary schools is set to be closed, after deputies voted in favour of adopting a three-school model.

After hours of debate, the States voted 26-19 in favour of the move, which was one of the amendments tabled by Treasury minister Gavin St Pier, pictured.

When the States reconvenes on Tuesday, further amendments are expected and deputies will continue to debate Education's secondary education report.

This includes whether to follow Education's recommendations to approve the £64.2m. La Mare rebuild project.
