GHA plans to build 300 new homes
UP TO 300 social and partial ownership homes will be built over the next five years, the Guernsey Housing Association has unveiled, at the same time as Guernsey's housing industry rallies for bold new ideas to stimulate the struggling private market.
Details of the plans to bolster social and private housing comes as the latest figures reveal the island has once again fallen short of its target to increase the amount of housing in the island to keep up with demand – with just 144 new builds last year against its target of 300.
This week hundreds from the community are attending a 'house building reform' presentation, looking at the stark need for fresh ideas, policy and initiatives for housing, bringing together senior politicians, business figures and property professionals to explore options to stimulate the market.
