Pride of Guernsey seeks angels

We're delighted that this amazing initiative, which recognises those selfless members of our community who give so much to help others, has now been launched in Guernsey and have agreed to sponsor the Angel of the Year Award in both islands.

Ravenscroft is the Channel Islands' only independent stockbroking and investment management business. We see ourselves as very much part of the community, employing more than 50 people and investing in local companies and institutions.

Over the past 10 years, Ravenscroft has also donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to charities, voluntary organisations and sporting bodies and teams. We're more than humbly honoured that we have helped so many people achieve so much.

But, of course, what we as a company do to help the community pales into insignificance when we consider the island's fantastic nurses, doctors and health workers. They dedicate their working lives to looking after the old and the young, the sick and the infirm, and are there for us around the clock whenever we need it.

There can be no one across the Bailiwick who hasn't had to seek medical help at some time or another. How lucky we are that we have such a first-class service when we consider the size of the island.

The Angel of the Year Award will no doubt see some amazing nominations – from those who were helped in an emergency to those who receive ongoing support to allow them to live their lives to the full.

There are so many doctors, nurses and health workers who go the extra mile, work under extreme pressure and in very emotional circumstances, but do so with professionalism, assurance and a caring smile.

Ravenscroft is looking forward to finding some of Guernsey's hidden angels.
