Education says two-school inquiry claim is 'unhelpful'

A TWO-SCHOOL secondary model would be impractical and is not being discussed as an option by the Education Department, deputy minister Richard Conder, pictured, has said.

The issue was raised on social media by an election candidate, who claimed a source close to the department had told them that it was looking at a two-school model, with La Mare de Carteret and St Sampson's High being expanded and Les Beaucamps becoming home to the College of Further Education.

Deputy Conder dismissed the claims as fiction.

'It's very unhelpful and is not based on fact,' he said.

The department is in the process of looking at a three-school system, with a report hopefully going before the States by the end of 2017.
