Pride of Guernsey will celebrate emergency heroes
EVERY year, the emergency services respond to hundreds of 999 calls, many of which don't appear in the pages of the Guernsey Press and therefore go unnoticed by most of us.

We are fortunate that our police, fire and ambulance services along with our Coastguard and the volunteers who make up the Air Search and lifeboat crew are our community's guardian angels, willing to put themselves in danger and undertake work that is demanding, tiring and in the most challenging of circumstances.
In addition to being there at a time when islanders need them the most, each of our emergency services works hard to keep us safe.
Whether it's installing fire alarms in the homes of the elderly, educating our youngsters about fire safety, transporting the sick and infirm to hospital and doctor appointments, being on hand at public events
patrolling the streets at night or investigating every reported crime.
The sheer scope of the work that our emergency services do on a day-to-day
basis is vast and how lucky we are to live in a place that is so safe thanks to their hard work and dedication.
This year Rossborough celebrates its 80th year of providing personal, business and health insurance to Channel Islanders.
When our customers have to make a claim, we often hear about the involvement of the emergency services and so we know the difference they make.
That's why Rossborough is proud to be sponsoring the Emergency Hero of the Year Award.
We want to celebrate being part of Guernsey's community for 80 years but more
importantly recognise the outstanding work that our emergency services do each and every day.
Whether they are nominated or not, each one deserves our thanks for selflessly
helping others.
Ian Stewart, managing director, Rossborough Guernsey
Tomorrow: Carer of the Year.
