EDUCATION is reviewing the Bailiwick's curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs of all learners.

A two-day planning conference for teaching professionals began yesterday at the Peninsula Hotel led by international curriculum expert Mick Waters.

The new curriculum will be introduced from September 2017.

Director of Education Alan Brown said the move had nothing to do with the forthcoming reorganisation of schools and the abolition of selection at 11.

The review had been allocated as part of the department's work stream for about four years and the present curriculum has been in place since 2008.

The new curriculum would continue to be based on the four existing core purposes aimed at enabling children and young people to become confident individuals, responsible citizens, effective contributors and successful learners.
