Nominate the ones who make you proud

Published

TODAY may be the day that the island goes to the polls, but don't forget to pick up a form and tick another box – for the Pride of Guernsey Awards.

We are waiting to receive nominations for your would-be winners of own our 12 vacancies up for grabs: Teacher of the Year; Carer; Neighbour; Parish Champion; Young Achiever; Grandparent/s; Overcoming Adversity; Parent/s; Angel; Arts Contribution of the Year; Emergency Hero and Welcome of the Year.

The brand-new initiative, in conjunction with our 12 award partners, is our bid to celebrate those who already elect to do extraordinary things as part of their everyday lives or jobs, yet who are either ineligible for existing tributes or there has until now been no suitable award

to acknowledge their efforts.

You can use the special forms now appearing in the newspaper, or nominate online at our dedicated sister website prideofguernsey.com.

All those nominated for the Pride of Guernsey will be featured, plus they will also have the chance to win a £1,000 prize.

Starting this week, we will be running the stories and pictures of those first islanders to have been nominated and why.

Pride of Guernsey is your way to give them a very special public thank-you, as our finalists will also be selected by a public vote and go on to be guests of honour at the first ever Pride of Guernsey Awards ceremony in October.

To find out more and to nominate who you think deserves an accolade, fill in the form in the Press or go to prideofguernsey.com now. You can also join the conversation at #PrideOfGuernsey.

Nominations close on 30 June and we look forward to hearing more about those who you think make our Bailiwick proud.
