Pride of Guernsey: 'Selfless, kind and loving parents'
SELFLESS, kind and loving parents who taught their daughters to stand up for what they believe in and to have pride in who they are, have been put forward for the Parent/s of the Year Award sponsored by The Christies Group.

Diamantino, 52, and Isaura, 48, Aguiar, who are from Portugal, were nominated for the category by their daughter Micaele.
'They have always loved me unconditionally, always believed in me and encouraged me to do the best I could. They always have time for me no matter when and have always stepped up to the plate whenever I needed them most,' she said.
As well as teaching their two daughters academically, Micaele said her parents had also taught her and her sister about life, including how to love and be kind.
'I'm very grateful that my parents are givers by nature and they would do anything to make someone else's day better.
'To this day they show me the value of working hard and providing for your family.'
She was also grateful her parents had brought her up to speak two languages – Portuguese and English – and acknowledged the sacrifice they made by leaving their family and friends in Portugal to start a new life in Guernsey.
'It showed me how much they changed their lives to give us the life we live today.
'As much as they taught us to respect authority, we were taught to stand up for our beliefs, have pride in who you are.'
* The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
