Guernsey Fire and Rescue, Guernsey Police and Guernsey Electricity engineers quickly arrived at site in Les Monmains, Vale, just after midnight.

It followed numerous reports from nearby residents of two 'loud bangs' before many were left without power due to the incident.

Power was even interrupted as far Guernsey Dairy and Ville Au Roi, while some islanders on social media said they felt their property shake from the blast.

People also spoke of hearing alarm sounds all through the night with many being kept awake for hours due to the noise.

Engineers worked through the night to restore supplies as quickly and as safely as possible.

All customers were back on supply by 2.40am.

Guernsey Electricity apologised for the disruption.

Nobody was injured.
