Pride of Guernsey: 'Friendly, kind and happy' neighbours

Published

FINDING time for their neighbours despite numerous other commitments has landed Dave and Kolleen Packham a nomination for the Pride of Guernsey Awards in the Neighbour of the Year category.

Nominated by Janine and Geoff Clarke, the couple have helped their neighbours in a huge variety of ways including help with fixing garden furniture, gifts of rhubarb and apple pies and caring for pets, in addition to simply being there with listening ears.

Mr Clarke said spending time with the couple always left himself and his wife in a good mood.

'They are always friendly, kind and happy people to be around – you can't help but feel positive when you come away from a chat over the fence or a social event at their house,' he said.

He added that they were not the only people who benefit from the support of Mr and Mrs Packham.

'It doesn't stop with us – their kindness, consideration and helpfulness extends to the wider neighbourhood of island life in their involvement with the Festiva Choir and further afield to continuing the work of Dave's father in India, supporting the Lily Packham Girls' Hostel,' he said.

'With their extended family and all these extra activities, it is a wonder that they have time for their neighbours and that is what makes them so incredibly special.'

The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
