Pride of Guernsey: 'At the heart of the community'
SUE BROOKS is at the heart of the community and helps to make Torteval a very special place to live, according to one parishioner.

Sue Aldwell said Mrs Brooks went about things in her own quiet and busy way, such as teaching local choirs young and old, and putting on wonderful shows at different times of the year, including carol services in the parish church at Christmas.
She also founded the annual scarecrow festival with Ann Kirby.
'Sue has been the main kingpin every year for the past 13 years at our Scarecrow Festival, heading the organising team and drumming up the excitement of the parish for this much-loved festival,' said Mrs Aldwell of her nominee for the OCS-sponsored award. Mrs Brooks then goes on to organise a post-Scarecrow Festival party.
She has also been a junior parish constable for the past two years.
'The parish is holding a party on 11 June for the Queen's 90th birthday and Sue is the first to offer help,' said Mrs Aldwell.
'She is at the heart of the parish, drawing everyone together and making our parish a community, a family and a very special place
to live.'
The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
