Politicians will decide whether to spend £8,000 at its next meeting on 17 May.

The Sustainable Electricity Policy Development team has consulted on price controls.

'While there was broad acceptance of the draft price control regulation in principle, concerns were raised with some of the detail,' the report to Chief Pleas says.

'Among these concerns was the principle that politicians should not set prices and that for any regulation to be successful it had to be fair and reasonable to both the customer and the supplier.'

The PDT agreed that it was inappropriate for politicians to set prices and the finalised draft law will reflect that by making explicit in the regulation the role of a commissioner.

Through its advisors, it has been introduced to a company called BW Energy.
