Saddle up for a summer of Tuesdays

THE Guernsey Bicycle Group's summer social evening rides begin again on Tuesday.

The annual event, which has run for the last four or five years, sees the rides go on for 11 weeks.

GBG media officer Sam Field said the outings were for cyclists of all ages and the youngest who has come along was 14 months old.

The rides are very social, at a gentle pace and family friendly, with between 20 and 30 people joining, with many staying on for a meal or drink at the end of the ride, he said.

'These gentle, family-friendly rides are designed to get as many people as possible out on their bikes, enjoying the long summer evenings, the quiet Guernsey lanes and gaining some experience on the roads in a safe and controlled environment,' he said.

Mr Field said the rides lasted about an hour, if that, and were mostly on flat routes, but inevitably there were some hills.
