Pride of Guernsey: 'She accepts her lot and just gets on with life cheerfully'
A MUM who is a full-time carer for her 19-year-old son is described as someone who 'accepts her lot and gets on with life cheerfully'.

Julie Dorrity has been nominated for the Pride of Guernsey Carer of the Year Award, which is sponsored by Specsavers.
Maggie Spencer, who put forward the nomination, said that Mrs Dorrity's son Dean, who has cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair and requires constant care.
'Upon his reaching 18, there have been less facilities for him to attend, which she has had to seek out and pursue – it has not readily been there,' she said.
'Julie has a supportive family but mostly relies on him attending such facilities for any time to herself.
'She never complains, takes caring for him in her stride and does everything possible to ensure his quality of life.
'She accepts her lot and just gets on with life cheerfully.'
Mrs Dorrity said she had now sorted out some respite care for her son. She has been a full-time carer since he was born.
The nomination period for all 12 Pride of Guernsey Awards remains open until 30 June. Forms appear in paper or visit our dedicated sister website www.prideofguernsey.com/nominate
