Savannah Goddard, 16, has been put forward for the College of Further Education-sponsored award by assistant head teacher Dan Cleary.

'Savannah has overcome significant personal adversity in her time in the upper school,' he said.

'She has faced all her challenges with dignity, determination and resilience.'

Mr Cleary said the Year 11 student was an 'incredible ambassador' for the school as its head girl and embodies the values that the school stands for.

'If there was a young person that personifies the La Mare de Carteret spirit it would be Savannah Goddard,' Mr Cleary said.

'We are lucky to have had the privilege to educate this young person, who has in turn educated so many others in incalculable ways about what it means to be a leader and what it means to succeed over adversity.'

Mr Cleary praised Savannah, stating that she was a wonderful role model and a student who, it seems, was destined to achieve great things.
