Pride of Guernsey: 'Inspirational mother, teacher and friend'
AN 'INSPIRATIONAL mother, teacher and friend' was the title given to Karlie Bichard as she received four separate nominations for Teacher of the Year, sponsored by Garenne.
One of these nominations came from pupil Keira Jordan, who said the Vauvert Primary School teacher deserved the award because she was really kind and cared about everyone, including the other teachers and parents.
'She can help with everything because she is patient and understanding,' she said. 'If you don't get something she will come and help you out the best that she can until you understand, even if it takes an hour or so to get it correct.
'So that's why I think Mrs Bichard deserves to be teacher of the year.'
One of her other proposers described how she was particularly good at encouraging the children to have their own opinions and to see the morals of different stories. Another described her as a 'very gentle, calm, intelligent, lovely person'.
Mrs Bichard has been credited for her inspirational strength and personality in and outside the classroom and also how she always shows wonderful support for all those she loves around her.
Another nominator added: 'Karlie is one of the most committed and devoted teachers I have ever met.
'She is an inspirational mother, teacher and friend to the little lives that she is helping to shape every day in her school and is a credit to her family and Guernsey.'
