La Mare is repaired in face of uncertainty
STUDENTS are on half term this week but La Mare de Carteret schools have not been empty, with improvement and maintenance works being carried out.
This included roofing, window and door servicing and repairs, essential carpentry and external works.
The work is set to cost around £50,000.
Following on from the States debate in March at which the redevelopment of the schools was put on hold again, agreement was reached to provide additional funding to make improvements to both schools in the interim.
Head of the Education Development Programme schools project Ashley Dupre said the department stated in March it would try to maintain the existing schools at La Mare de Carteret in the best condition possible while further planning for the various future school options continued.
