Carl is not doing things by halves
FOUR half marathons in eight hours is the gruelling challenge Carl Thomson has set himself ahead of the Father's Day Half Marathon on Sunday.
Mr Thomson, a caretaker at Elizabeth College, is running in support of Guernsey Alzheimer's Association.
He said the idea of running the 13.1-mile course multiple times had first occurred to him only last week.
'Once I got the idea in my head, one morning while out running on the cliffs, I just couldn't stop thinking about it,' he said.
'So I decided I had to go for it and will try to raise some money for Guernsey Alzheimer's at the same time.
'I had inspiration for this after reading crazy books, of people like Warren Mauger, who ran seven marathons in seven days, and Rob Young, who has the world record for running across America.'
Starting around 3.30am on Sunday, Mr Thomson will attempt to run the course three times in six hours, before joining the other competitors for the 9.30am official starting time.
