Holly Le Flem, whose son Jake, 10, was born with a severe heart defect, said Dr Bryan Lean had always made himself available whenever she or her son had needed him.

'Ten years ago I was expecting my first baby,' said Mrs Le Flem.

'Unfortunately I received the news that he had a severe heart defect and that if he survived the birth, he would need to have multiple surgery, and face an uncertain future.

'Throughout the years we have had the support of a fantastic local paediatrician, Dr Bryan Lean.'

Mrs Le Flem said Dr Lean had taken every concern she had seriously and made sure her son had access to the best care available.

'Whenever I have been anxious or unsure, Dr Lean has always been there to support me, always happy to fit in an appointment at short notice,' she said.

'He has always ensured my son Jake has had access to the very best care.'

Mrs Le Flem said her son was 'comfortable and confident' in Dr Lean's company and wanted to thank him for his ongoing support.

'Despite my frequent anxieties, Dr Lean has always been patient and has never made me feel that I am making a fuss,' she said.

'Over the years he has gone above and beyond the call of duty to put my mind at rest.'
