Vanda Slann said the deputy manager at Les Cotils was something special when it came to giving people a warm reception and she could think of no one who did it better.

'This man is just amazing,' she said.

'He welcomes everyone with open arms, a hug and the biggest smile.

'He knows everyone's name and makes them feel like they are the most important person in the establishment.

'Nothing is ever too much trouble for him and if he hasn't got it, he will get it. If you can't get a taxi then he will drive you home.'

Mrs Slann said Mr Steen cared about each and every person that he met and people came back time and time again just because of him.

'He truly is a lovely, warm, kind, generous man who does not think that he does anything out of the ordinary.

'He always brightens my day and really deserves this award.'
