Denise Poat has nominated Dr Hotton, who is based at the High Street Surgery, for the Angel of the Year Award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.

'I have a complex genetic illness, but she is so caring and has the time to listen to you,' said Mrs Poat.

'She sorts out any problems you might have and writes letters to anyone that can sort out any issues to better your quality of life.'

Mrs Poat said she had recently gone through a very difficult time with a medical issue and could not get the proper channels to deal with it.

However, she visited Dr Hotton, who helped her sort the problem out.

'I was really at the end of my tether and although it was not her problem to sort it out, I made an appointment to see her and explained all I had put up with recently,' said Mrs Poat.

'She was on the case immediately and got the outcome I needed within a day.

'There is always a bit of a wait to see her beyond your appointment time, but no one minds as they know she will listen and will sort the problem out and not chase you in and out of the surgery in five minutes.

'I would not be as well as I am without her excellent care of me over very many years. I would also like to add that her support staff are the best too.'

Dr Hotton was born in Guernsey and after studying and working in London she moved back to the island in 2003.
