Roxanne Williams, 28, first met Anne Kinch when she was 12 and had been diagnosed with type one diabetes.

She said Anne had been very supportive to her over the years and has therefore nominated her for the Angel of the Year award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.

'I met Anne when I was 12 and newly diagnosed with type one diabetes,' she said.

'Not only did she go beyond the call of duty then, she has done ever since – as I am sure she has done for all of her patients.

'She is extremely patient, kind, professional, but most importantly understanding.

'She has been extremely supportive with not only diabetes-related things but everything else I have had to deal with in life.'

Anne was at the end of the phone day or night, she added.

'Her dedication to her role as the diabetes nurse specialist is inspirational and an absolute credit to the PEH.'
