Pride of Guernsey - 'The coolest mum by far'

Julia Quevatre, 18, said her 49-year-old mother was the ideal person for the Christies Group-sponsored Parent/s of the Year Award.

'My mum is just amazing,' said Ms Quevatre.

'Me and my brother both work really unusual hours and she always makes sure that there is a proper meal for us when we get home – and this includes my brother's weird and wonderful latest diet,' she said.

'She is the coolest mum by far and no-one would ever guess that she's approaching 50 because of all the exercise she does.'

Ms Quevatre said her mother was far fitter and more sporty than any other 18-year-old she knows.

'She plays in the same netball team as me and my sister and, to be honest, she could run circles around us.'
