Representatives from Male Uprising Guernsey and the emergency services were some of the 52 who participated.

They put on their own version of the man-powered flight competition to jump into the harbour to remember Mr Hope, who died on Tuesday from bowel cancer, aged 33.

Fire & Rescue Service head of operations Pierre Laine was one of those taking part in the jump in memory of Mr Hope, who worked at the station before moving to the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre.

'We all worked closely with him,' he said.

'It is an ideal opportunity to get everyone together.'

The plan was to get 33 people to take part, one for each year of Mr Hope's life, and they exceeded that.

Each wore a Mug T-shirt, which featured a picture of Mr Hope, and a pair of Mug Y-fronts.

Oak Trust (Guernsey) Limited also participated and chairman Mark Chasey said it hoped to raise more than £7,000 for Mug at the weekend, which also saw its Impi Shield sailing event, in aid of the charity, take place.

The focus of Mug is to increase awareness and promote education around the symptoms and treatment of prostate, bowel and testicular cancers.
